  34. To install, simply execute the script UEAINSTALL from the CLI.
  35.   (sorry, i never did get the hang of using a mouse for much of anything)

  38. UEA1:
  39.  
  40.     UEA1 is a reworked keymap that will allow one to type the
  41.      characters in Slate.font which are needed for the languages
  42.      Esperanto and Cymraeg (Welsh).
  43.  
  44.      Why?
  45.     Well, I needed them for myself, and I felt that if I could use
  46.     this stuff, there may be other people who could use it too, so
  47.     I put it out in the public domain.
  48.  
  49.     How?
  50.     The keymap was created with KeyMapEd by Tim Friest, after
  51.     much frustration with NEWCON:, which for some strange reason
  52.     will not print out any characters in the range of $80-$9F.

  55.     How does it work?
  56.     Use it like any other keymap (specifically USA1), HOWEVER
  57.     you cannot get any of the French characters save Ç, as I 
  58.     had to overwrite them for my Esperanto and Welsh characters.
  59.     (that's ok, though.  Welsh is far prettier than French, and
  60.     Esperanto is spoken by MANY more people than either French
  61.     or Welsh).

  63. SLATE.FONT

  65.     Why?
  66.     I needed it, as I use both Welsh (the language of my own people)
  67.     and Esperanto (la internacia lingvo/the international language)
  68.     extensively in my own personal life, and I got tired of having
  69.     the best computer made (yea team AMIGA!) and having to use a
  70.     regular typewriter to type out my letters and other things
  71.     to people, because I could not get Amy to coöperate with me.

  73.    How?
  74.     FED. It is on the Extras disk on just about every release of
  75.     AmigaDos since 1.1.  I just took Topaz/8 and hacked it a bit.
  76.     I had to use the character range from $C0-$CF and $E0-$EF for my
  77.     characters, as NEWCON: will not allow me to use $80-$9f, as I
  78.     intended originally, to avoid hacking up the French characters.

  80.   How does it work?
  81.     Just specify it anywhere you can specify a font.  It is 
  82.     a FIXED-WIDTH font (so it will even work with DP-II, etc.) 
  83.     and it is an 8 point font, so when I get the programme,
  84.     I will replace TOPAZ on my KickStart disks with SLATE.

  86.   Why SLATE?
  87.     Slate is one of the major mining products of Wales, along with
  88.     coal.  I will make a modification of one of the proportional
  89.     fonts and call it COAL later.  I just did this today, so give
  90.         me time, ok?

  92. What is Esperanto?
  93.     Esperanto is a language created in 1887 by a Polish linguist and
  94.     physician named Ludovic Zammenhoff.  It was created to be an
  95.     international SECOND language.  We are not trying to eliminate
  96.     national languages, or replace them, but simply trying to help
  97.     people communicate with eachother.  Esperanto has only 16 rules
  98.     of grammar (I kid you not--see the NotePad file Esperanto.Primer
  99.     and see for yourself) and there are NO EXCEPTIONS to any rule--EVER!
  100.         Esperanto is simply an easy to learn, yet complete language.
  101.     It is possiable to say things and express concepts in Esperanto
  102.     that are very difficult if one could at all express them in
  103.     English.
  104.         It is estimated that over 15 Million people in the world
  105.     speak Esperanto.  In almost every country.   There are many
  106.     magazines and technical journals published in Esperanto.

  134. What about Welsh?
  135.     The Welsh language is still spoken in Wales, despite many attempts
  136.     by past monarchs of England to eliminate it.  It is a Celtic language,
  137.     related to Cornish, Irish, Scotts Gaelic, Manx, and Breton; along
  138.     with older Brithonic languages.
